Youth Engagement Coalition

Celebrate The Youth Engagement Coalition's successes with us!

We hosted a 9/11 Day of Service Celebration on Friday, Sept 11. This gathering will celebrated all the volunteers and organizations that hosted 9/11 Day of Service projects. Participants included youth leaders across the community, local nonprofit partners, educational institutions, and others who have committed to creating new ways to engage the youth. Watch the video to learn about the projects that have been completed to date, best practices and lessons learned, get the details about mini-grants that will be available for youth-led projects going into 2021, and recognize those partners that received a 9/11 Day of Service project award. We also discussed our plans for the MLK Day of Service event, scheduled for January 2021.

Volunteer Opportunities

A little about us..... The Youth Engagement Coalition (YEC) was created in July of 2020 as a direct result of a Youth Service America (YSA) grant Sarina Horner applied for on behalf of Forsyth County Young Leaders Program and in collaboration with Wake Forest Office of Civic and Community Engagement and HandsOn NWNC. Only 10 community grants were awarded across the country by YSA. YEC was created to find ways to increase youth volunteerism and engagement in Forsyth County, NC.
